Quincentenary Champagne from Pol Roger

Pinot Noir Chardonnay Pinot Meunier (mix of vintages – blend of villages)

This crisp dry wine gives a good expression of the different terroirs. The three grapes are blended together, the apple freshness of the Chardonnay well balanced by the slightly fuller flavours of the Pinots.

Palomino Pedro Ximénez

Rich nutty peaches and dates the nose has depth yet fragrance. The palate has an opulent fleshiness figs and dried fruits but then towards the back it is a bit lighter hints of nuts almonds and hazel nuts. The finish though is rich deep sensuous opulent.

There is an attractive weight of fleshy greengage on the nose and this richness is apparent on the start of the palate. The mid palate is crisped up by apple freshness and racy flint, all nicely balanced.

Chablis Cuvée de la Butte 2006


The ripeness of the fruit gives a surprisingly rich feel to both nose and palate. The flavours are concentrated backed by flint, apple and mineral leaving a crisper feel on the finish.

Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Folatières” 2007

The freshness of the fruits tends to be exaggerated by the mineral and flint that lie beneath. There is an attractive weight of flavour on the palate, ripe greengage backed by fresher lime and apple, flavours that last well.

The nose has a mix of red fruits quite light and fragrant and although the start of the palate has red fruited freshness the mid palate has depth and the richness of sweet fruit. The back palate has more black fruits yet it finishes with an attractive red fruited freshness.

Rich fruit on the nose the palate has a brooding depth blueberry and bramble underpinned by fleshy mulberry. There is mid structure firm but ripe tannins the richness ripeness of the fruit fleshing out the back palate and giving depth on the finish.

Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 1995

Domaine Lamarche

Red fruits dominate the nose fragrant with a nutty autumn leaf charm. The start of the palate has the same red fruited mix quite light but the mid palate is rich with sweet fruit the back palate has depth. The fresher flavours the leafiness is there on the long lingering finish.

Saint-Julien 3eme Cru

The mix of red and black fruits on the nose has an overlying fragrant charm. Ripe cassis dominates the start of the palate refreshed by some bilberry but there is richness and depth of flavour towards the back with some dark chocolate. There are layers of flavour lots of complexity richness on the back palate with a cedar wood fragrance on the finish.

Saint-Julien 3eme Cru

There is a powerful mix of cassis, sloe and blackberry on the nose. This rich mix is in evidence on the palate fleshed out by dark chocolate and coffee, refreshed by hints of bilberry and given a spice twist by the cedar wood that shows on the finish.

Black fruits and red fruits the nose has a fragrant charm. The start is the palate is quite mild very fruity but there is a firmer slightly more alcoholic feel at the back.
